
Yes! I think I originally heard this from Cup of Jo and have used it as a guiding parenting principle. Related mantras: save my nos. (Don’t dilute the power of a no. Only use it when you mean it) And: don’t pick up the rope. As in tug-of-war. Is this something I need to push and pull about? Does this need to be a power struggle?

Such good advice. It’s so easy to default to no, especially when it’s messy or unwieldy. But aiming for yes makes such a positive difference.
